We launched nationally just 12 days ago. How is it going?
Surprisingly smoothly! I say surprisingly because such a big initiative is bound to have hiccups. Thus far we’ve had a 99% on-time delivery rate thanks to our partners at FedEx. We’ve received many glowing notes from customers new and old who are excited to be supporting our mission and eating our delicious food!
Where are we seeing the most interest?
Not surprisingly we’ve seen the most orders in California (where the majority of the readers of this blog live), and then in our traditional markets of Iowa and Illinois. Connecticut, my birth state, is also punching above it’s weight (thanks Mom and Dad)!
What states am I most excited to see grow?
From a population standpoint: I’d hope to see more orders from New York and Texas.
From a vicinity standpoint: we would love to see Minnesota grow as we also work with several great regenerative farmers in Minnesota just across the river from Iowa.
From a market fit standpoint: I keep hearing that our message should resonate really well in Utah!
What are the most popular products?
We have 3 subscription options:
Build a box (customize it exactly how you like)
Farmer’s Favorites (we choose for you, think “surprise and delight”)
All Ground (customize exactly how you like from ground meat options only)
Three frequency options: subscribe every 2, 4 or 8 weeks
Two size options: Classic ($159) and Large ($299)
And The winner so far is the Build a box (classic size)
In terms of frequency for this box, customers are evenly split between a 4-week and 8-week delivery option. From a growth standpoint I’d like to see more 4-week subscriptions than 8-week subscriptions, but with our generous pricing most customers are getting 13-15lbs of meat for just $159 and feeling like they won’t get through all of that in a month. Good news is if you love it and want to change the delivery frequency we have awesome self-service functionality on our website (thanks to our friends at Recharge!)
Why are customers choosing us?
Our mission is really resonating. So many of you believe in regenerative agriculture, both in terms of what it can do for your health and for what it can do for the health of the environment and rural communities.
Where do you think we should focus our marketing energy?
Thus far we haven’t spent a dime on marketing our National offering. We’ve wanted to first share organically via social and email with our core supporters, and to grow via word of mouth. But soon it will be time to start a national marketing campaign. We would love to hear your thoughts on how to get the word out!
What is my order recommendation, you ask?
Here is what I suggest you order: A classic build your bundle (14 LBS of premium, regenerative meat for just $134 (when you use my discount code christian at checkout):
What should be in that bundle:
1x 3lbs ground beef (85/15)
1 x 1.75lbs chicken breast
1 x 2lbs bacon (our Illinois and Iowa customers cannot get enough of it!)
1 x 2lbs chicken thighs (chicken breast is boring, this has more flavor!)
1 x 1.25lbs skirt steak (by far our most popular item for these bundles!)
1 x 2lbs ground chorizo sausage
1 x 2lbs breakfast sausage (your kids will love them!)
Now if you want to get fancy I would suggest the following add ons because they are super cool and only available as add-ons:
