Who do I have to beg around here to get some solar panels installed on my roof and why do only 3% of US homes have rooftop solar, versus 20% of homes in Australia?
Wonderful post! We just got done replacing our entire roof and we have solar panels (we own them). I found it interesting that the toughest part of requesting and comparing roofing bids was the solar. Since we own the panels, no solar company had any skin in the game so the process of taking the panels off and then reinstalling them was a complete headache. If we leased the panels, the solar company would have happily helped.... to protect their property. It's a small job so most solar installation companies wouldn't give us a bid. Since it's solar panels (electrical), most roofing companies didn't have the necessary skilled labor to do the job. In the end, it was all local. Our roofer had a buddy who worked at a solar installer. He came to our house in his free time to take our panels off and then reinstall them. Such a pain!
